our story

We are a country, pop and lite rock cover band, with some originals.  Sometimes a solo act, sometimes a full band.

Mainly played on acoustics, but always up for a little electric guitar sounds as well.

BTJ started out as two guys playing around the mountains of Idaho at resorts and music festivals.  The band now resides in northern Michigan.  At the start there was not a name for the band, venues would ask what name should they use to promote an event.  It finally came down to two options, "Tejay & Scott", or "Dos Desperado's" (loosely translated = two wanna be's).  An idea was formed to have the audience select the name by filling one of the two tip jars at the front of the stage for the next event.  Before we started playing, a dog kicked over one of the glass jars,  shattering it as it hit the ground.  As the jar was being tossed in the trash someone commented, "Well, there's a broken tip jar!".  Tejay announced, "that would be a great band name."  Hence, the birth of BTJ.  To this day that same tip jar is used at every performance BTJ plays.
